PORRIDGE COMPANY SERVES UP VITAL SUPPORT TO FESTIVAL
ORGANISERS of a Nantwich Food and Drink Festival have paid tribute to Mornflake as they work flat out to raise funds to stage another crowd-pulling event.

The breakfast foods company will play a big role in attracting thousands of people to Nantwich after throwing its weight behind the town’s Food and Drink Festival for a third year. As the event’s main sponsor it will give its name to a massive Gourmet Food Hall on the Bowling Green car-park over festival weekend, September 6-8.

Deborah Robb of the not-for-profit group that stages the festival said: “A great slice of funding used to come from Cheshire East Council but that cash support has now dried up making Mornflake’s sponsorship an absolute lifeline this year.

“The festival helped to generate some £2m income for the town centre in 2012 and thanks to Mornflake, now the festival’s main sponsor, Nantwich can look forward to another fantastic weekend.” Crewe-based Mornflake is also a major sponsor of Crewe Alexandra FC and a regular supporter of the Nantwich Show, with the Mornflake Food Hall one of its most established attractions. Managing director John Lea said: “The Nantwich Food and Drink Festival and Nantwich Show do a great deal to put the town on the map. Visitors from a wide area get to see what an important role Cheshire plays in putting food on the country’s tables.

“As a family company, with a long history in feeding fine breakfast foods to the nation, we have no hesitation in supporting these events. We take much delight in seeing the town buzz with thousands of people, knowing it helps to boost the town’s economy and strengthen its reputation as a tourist destination.”
