Concert brings back wartime recollections

WARTIME memories will be shared by guests young and old at a Remembrance Concert on Saturday, November 7. The concert, now in its 21st year, will once again take the audience back to the tears, heartache, laughter and songs of the war years, whilst also remembering the sacrifice given by men and women serving in past and present conflicts throughout the world. The event starts at 7pm and will feature performances from Dawn Dawson’s Academy, with highlights from stage show Chicago, and pieces influenced by popular group Queen and James Bond films. In addition, Bolton Little Theatre will present ‘Accrington Pals’ and members of Bolton’s Premier Productions will showcase their musical talents.

There will be an Act of Remembrance, the Fall of Poppies and playing of the Last Post at the end of the concert. Councillor Frank White, President of Bolton United Service Veterans Association said: “This is a variety event with a huge slice of nostalgia, but at its core the concert is a solemn Service of Remembrance too, as the audience – many of them former serving veterans – reprise wartime songs and look back over the more serious and perhaps lighter moments of the war years. “But primarily it’s simply about everyone enjoying themselves.” Tickets are £6.50 and are available from the Albert Halls Box Office at Bolton Town Hall, or call 01204 334400 to book.
