180 LADIES from across the area flocked to Stanley House Hotel to a festive fundraiser hosted by Gloria Hunniford, raised over £2000 for charity. Gloria, one of Britain’s most loved and respected TV presenters and broadcasters, hosted the sellout Ladies Who Lunch event, in aid of Stanley House’s nominated charity for 2009, Self Unlimited. The charity provides support for adults with learning difficulties and manages the Stanley Grange community on Roach Road in Salmesbury. Gloria answered questions from the audience about her charity work, life in the public eye, celebrity friends and colleagues, and her bestselling books, Next To You and Always With You.

She also gave insight into her recent filming for popular TV shows such as Cash in the Attic and Cash in the Celebrity Attic, Rip Off Britain, Angels for Sky Real Lives and The Alan Titchmarsh Show. Speaking after the event, she said: “This was my first visit to Stanley House Hotel, which is a truly unique hotel. The event was so much fun. Everyone was out to enjoy themselves and I met such wonderful people.” Guests shopped, dined and mingled throughout the day, in the stunning surroundings of Lancashire’s finest boutique hotel. Food and wine producers, florists, jewellers, designers and fashion boutiques from across the county hosted stalls for guests to browse, in three of the hotel’s hospitality suites.

A festive two-course lunch menu was served by the award-winning team from Stanley House’s fine dining restaurant, Cassis. The main course of slow cooked breast of local turkey and traditional accompaniments was followed by spiced apple strudel with Bourbon vanilla custard for dessert.
